Montée was founded by Anders Tjore, Erlend Mokkelbost and Maya Vik (JR Ewing, The Turns, Furia) in 2007 with the aim of creating a new and challenging sound, in a place where the past and the future meet and that would evolve over time as new sounds were found. Their debut “Isle Of Now” was recorded in a rehearsal studio during 2008 and is testament to the triumph of will and ability over quite possibly the worst microphones in the world. The record even won a prestigious Spellemann gong for best pop record, ahead of a host of rather better known names. The band, now complete with the addition of Haakon-Marius Pettersen and Marius Simonsen, is a sought after live band, their succinct pop songs taking on whole new forms live, every show a sexy, sweaty and engaging experience. Over the past year, Montée have been working on the follow up to “Isle Of Now” – a record that’s rumored to be giant leap forward, along a very clubby road, marrying out and out club music with a beating heart and strong melodies. Taster “Ghost” has already been a great success at radio, playlisted for 35 weeks and counting on NRK P3, and soon the band will return in full, to set pulses racing.
