Mammút formed in Iceland in 2003, two boys and three girls aged 14-16. A few months after they began to rehearse they won the Iceland Battle Of The Bands competition, even though they only had three songs in there repertoire. In 2006 they released their debut album through Smekkleysa to favourable reviews and was followed by a slot at Iceland Airwaves which was loved by both Rolling Stone and Music Week. Another successful album – “Karkari” – came in 2008 and was also released by Rough Trade / Rocket Girl in Germany. The band toured in Europe, played SXSW in Austin, In The City in England and opened for Belgian rockers dEUS at home and in Germany. Mammút have loaded their gun and are ready to change the world.
