There are just some voices that are so arresting they make you drop what you’re doing and listen to what they have to say. Frida Ånnevik has such a voice. Following on from previous winners Valkyrien Allstars, Gjermund Larsen and Siri Nilsen, Frida Ånnevik was awarded the Grappa prize for best debut artist, winning a recording contract in the process. Alongside producer Andreas Mjøs (Jaga Jazzist, Susanna and the Magical Ochestra, Adjagas) she’s been working on her debut “Synlige hjerteslag”, pop sung in Norwegian, spanning several genres but with its own strong identity. On stage Frida is backed by band Kingelor who in recent years have played Nordischer Klang festival in Greifswald and opened for Thoma Hell in Kristiansand. In August Frida and her band were wone of the four acts selected to compete for Kristiansand Rock City’s Idéstipendet with a prize of 400,000 Norwegian kroner. Pop hopeful Frida Ånnevike is a songwriter from Prøysenland who effortlessly mixes rootsy, earthy Norwegian sounds with more urban international elements into something that feels very right in 2010.
