Lars Wiik’s musical career started simply with a roll of bin bags and a pack of tape. The aim was to wrap his childhood home in plastic. In the time that followed and surrounded by the heady aroma of polythene, Lars wrote a record which earned him a nomination for the prestigious Spellmannsprisen (for best metal album) in 1998. Since then he’s been on a long journey and his music now takes on an entirely different form to that of his debut, having dipped his toes in all sorts of genres along the way, and amongst other achievements has had an NRK Urørt track of the week and a number of film syncs. Knirk Audio put out Lars’ E.P. “Even dogs laugh” in May 2010, receiving plenty of attention and the record ably represents the sound of the album that is to follow in early 2011. If The Beach Boys, Daniel Johnston and or Bob Dylan are your bag, then you really should lend an ear to Lars Wiik.
