In 2010 Cold Mailman have begun to take their first tentative steps into the public consciousness from Oslo’s musical underground, where for a few years now, they’ve impressed with their melancholy, intelligent and expertly played indiepop. After Stereogum, one of the biggest indie blogs in the US, picked up on their new single, Cold Mailman have really got wind in their sails. Summer 2010 saw the band play a host of shows including Hove and Parken Festival. Their new L.P. “Relax; the mountain will come to you” is an exceptional case study in modern Norwegian pop interchanging between the grandiose and the introspective, but always delivered with a lyrical precision that all to often eludes Norwegian acts when singing in English. “The melodies are airy and immediate.
